- SnapNType
What
should I do when I type on the keyboard and nothing happens?
The
first thing is to check whether the SnapNType driver is properly
installed and enabled. If the driver is enabled, we suggest you
to unplug the SnapNType keyboard from your Visor; "disable"
the driver; "enable" the driver again; and then plug the
SnapNType keyboard back to your Visor again, making sure that the
keyboard connector is perfectly attached to your handheld computer.
If
you are still getting no response or incorrect response from the
SnapNType then it may indicate a conflict between the SnapNType
driver and some of your installed software driver and/or hardware.
The SnapNType driver is not compatible with any software or hacks
that will use the only serial port on the Visor. It is also not
compatible with overclocking software such as Afterburner. To ensuer
there is no software conflict, please disable all hacks and software
that will either overclock the Visor or uses the serial port, then
try the SnapNType again.
Some
software will bind themself to the Palm OS at the ROM level and
cannot be completely removed even by a soft reset. If you are still
having problem with the SnapNType after the above steps, we would
recommend you do a Hard reset and try again. Please make sure you
properly backup all data and software applications before you perform
the Hard reset.
Is
the SnapNType driver compatible with Macintosh?
Yes,
the SnapNType driver is fully compatible with Macintosh. Simply
download the driver from our web site and perform a HotSync to install
snapntype.prc to your Visor and you are ready to go! You only need
your Macintosh computer to HotSync the application, subsequent operation
of the SnapNType will not require the computer.
While
the SnapNType is connected, can I beam information to other PDAs?
No.
You have to disable the SnapNType driver before performing the beam
action. However, you will be able to receive beam information while
the SnapNType driver is enabled.
Why
can't I synchronize my data back to my PC?
The
SnapNType driver is fully compatible with your Hotsync application.
Please make sure your cradle connection is OK by disabling the SnapNType
driver and perform the HotSync action again.
Do
I need to disable the SnapNType driver before performing Hotsync?
If
you are using a USB cradle, you can leave the SnapNType driver enabled
when performing Hotsync. However, if you use a serial cradle, due
to some conflict in using the serial port, you need to disable the
SnapNType driver before perforning a HotSync.
Why
does the synchronization screen appear each time I press the I/O
key?
It
is probably that you forgot to enable the SnapNType driver.
Is
the SnapNType compatible with the VisorPhone?
Yes,
the SnapNType is compatible with the VisorPhone and you can use
these two devices together to write e-mail or SMS and then send
them wirelessly. However, you need to make sure that you first enable
the SnapNType driver BEFORE you plug in the VisorPhone. After you
have enabled the SnapNType driver, you can plug / unplug the VisorPhone
or the SnapNType in any order. If you disable the SnapNType driver
while the VisorPhone is still attached, you have to remove the VisorPhone
before you can enable the SnapNType driver again.
Do
I have to disable the SnapNType driver every time I remove the device?
No,
you can leave the SnapNType driver enabled all the time. The only
time you may want to disable the SnapNType driver is when you need
to use the serial port for another application, such as beaming.
Is
the SnapNType compatible with over-clocking software?
There are 3 kinds of programs that can increase the running speed
of PalmOS
devices. The first type will remove the wait states from RAM and
ROM. The second type will over-clock the CPU. And a third type will
do both. For any program that over-clock the CPU (like FastCPU or
Afterburn), operation of the SnapNType will be affected because
over-clocking will affect serial communication, and any device or
program that use the serial port will be affected. In general, we
recommend you turn off any over-clocking program before using the
SnapNType.
Sometimes
when I type on the SnapNType, the "Find" function will
be activated automatically.
Since
the SnapNType mounts on top of your Visor, there will be slight
pressure applied on the touch screen of the Visor. For some Visors
with extremely sensitive screen, such pressure will be interpreted
by the PalmOS as though the "Find" button was being pressed.
Our new driver (version 1.01
onward) has an option to disable the "find" function so
that it will not affect operation of the SnapNType. Use the key
sequence: Menu->Options->Preference to enable or disable the
Find function. Please note that when selected, the Find function
will not function as long as the SnapNType driver is enabled. The
Find function will be available again when you disable the SnapNType
driver.
I
pressed the ":-)" button but the Faceboard will not show
up.
You
probably forgot to install the FaceBoard.prc program onto your Visor.
With the new driver (Version 1.01
onward) the FaceBoard.prc was integrated into Snapntype.prc.
I
have installed FaceBoard.prc and the program works properly. Why
can't I see the program listed in the application category?
The
FaceBoard.prc is a hidden program so you will not be able to see
it listed. You can use a program such as Z'Catalog to show details
of FaceBoard. For driver Version
1.01 onward, the faceboard.prc is integrated into snapntype.prc.
